Why do Women Often Suffer from Depression, Headaches, Weight Gain, and Anxiety (Part 2)

Yesterday I touched briefly on hormonal balance, focusing primarily on estrogen.  Another piece of the puzzle involves progesterone levels, which are often times deficient in women.  A proper balance between estrogen and progesterone is vital!  Those with high estrogen levels or low progesterone levels often have the same symptoms because the ratio is out of balance.

Did you know women with low progesterone levels often have trouble getting pregnant or carrying the baby a full term?  Progesterone is also a natural muscle relaxant, helps burn fat for energy, is a natural anti-depressant, functions as a precursor to other hormones, can increase labido, and facilitates thyroid function(among MANY other things).  Once again a high estrogen/low progesterone ratio can stress the liver and gall bladder.  This is often why you’ll find many woman have digestive issues.  As I mentioned last time, this only begins to scratch the surface of this large complicated puzzle!  As you’ve probably guessed, there is much more to do than simply taking a pill or “patching” the issue temporarily.

If you suffer from any of these symptoms it might be a good idea to have your hormone levels tested using a saliva test.  If you would like a more in depth explanation you can find information here http://www.johnleemd.com/ or visit my friend Dr Bob’s website.  http://www.druglessdoctor.com/

In part 3 I will be covering the basics of a few other hormones such as testosterone, DHEA,  and the lymphatic systems role in the process.  Have a Great Day!
